“And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.
“And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
“And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.”

In light of recent events, and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, our family is following CDC/WHO guidelines and practicing social distancing. It’s a strange thing for life to come to a sudden, unexpected halt. School, work, gatherings with friends, and simple pleasures like walking down the street to our favorite sushi dive on Monday nights — all on hold for the foreseeable future.
In spite of everything, I’ve found such peace in embracing rituals and rhythms during this time of uncertainty.
Some things that have made my days lighter + brighter as of late:
The peculiar, other-worldly work of Julie Blackmon.
This immune-boosting recipe on repeat.
Planning + buying seeds for my summer garden.
This podcast for modern parents.
One of our favorite children’s book authors offering daily, live readings of his books.
This beautiful, interactive/immersive seasonal rhythm for kids + families.
Stay safe + healthy where you are, friends.
